Phillip Dwight Hastings was born July 15, 1945 in Manchester Tennessee. He was raised by his grandparents Howard and Connie Hastings. He attended Coffee County schools, graduating high school in 1963.

Brother Hastings worked as a mechanic in a local Ford dealership until 1965 when he moved to Florida, continuing his vocation as a mechanic in dealerships until 1970 when he purchased a Petroleum Product Customer Service Center (i.e. gas station) and garage on Clearwater Beach, Florida. Moving back to Tennessee in 1976 he continued his career as an owner/mechanic of an auto repair business, later becoming a parts/service manager for a G.M. dealership, parts/service/operations manager of a HVAC dealership and as service manager of a Plumbing and Electric company retiring in 2009. He now spends his time maintaining their 165 acre farm.

In 1976 Brother Hastings married Betsy Ann Leptrone of Clearwater Beach, Florida and later that same year bought a farm in Manchester, Tennessee where he fulfilled his dream of becoming a farmer. (It was not Betsy’s dream). They have three children, Ralph (wife Debbi), Tabitha Davis (husband Chris) and Amanda Carter (husband Jason). Brother Dwight and Betsy have seven grandchildren - Dallas, Maggie, Kimberly, Katherine, Greyson, Emmett and Elliett. They are expecting their 8 th grandchild in September.

Brother Hastings was raised a Master Mason on September 21, 1975 in Clearwater Lodge #127, Clearwater Florida. He affiliated with Hillsboro Lodge #382 in 1980 where he is a Life Member, Past Master 1984 & 1995, and serving as Treasurer for the past 20 years. He is a plural member of Tullahoma Lodge #262 and Shelbyville Benevolence Lodge #122.

His other Masonic affiliations include - He is a 32 nd Degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, Past High Priest (#62), Order of the High Priest, Past Illustrious Master (#102), Order of the Silver Trowel, Past Eminent Commander (#40), KYCH, Past Sovereign Master AMD Council #416, Knight of the Red Branch of Eri, Middle Tennessee York Rite College #143, Tall Cedars of Lebanon #195, Knight Mason Gaelic Council #60, Knight Commanders Asylum #2 presently serving as Eminent Knight Commander, Al Menah Shrine (Nashville), and National Sojourner. He is a member of Manchester Chapter #339 O.E.S. and has served as Worthy Patron several times. He was instrumental in starting the Coffee County DeMolay Chapter, serving as Chapter Dad and advisor. He is a DeMolay Legion of Honor.

Brother Hastings served the Grand Lodge of Tennessee as Coffee County Chairman for several years and District “11” Chairman for five years. He also served on the Ways and Means Committee and was Grand Steward in 2011.

He was elected Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden on March 29, 2012 progressing each year until March 26, 2015 when he was elected Most Worshipful Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee.
