Rainbow Assemblies in Tennessee are located throughout the state. There are 27 local Assemblies in Tennessee. At the state level, Grand Assembly is held in eary July annually and a new Grand Worthy Advisor along with Grand Officers are selected. Since the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is primarily a service organization, the Grand Worthy Advisor selects projects that are carried out by the local Assemblies. Projects have included Scottish Rite, Shrine Hospital, American Heart and Lung Associations, MDA, Ronald McDonald House, Mont Milner Rainbow Camp, etc. This year Grand Assembly will be held July 7-10, 2001, at the Marriott Hotel, Nashville.
This year the major project for the state is the Scottish Rite Shoe Program.
The money that the assemblies raise will be given to the Scottish Rite Shoe Program to purchase shoes for childern who are in need. The Rainbow Girls and adults have been asked to participate by having a project that involves the feet. We have also included the Shrine Burns Hospital Transportation Unit by donating animals to be given to comfort the children transported to the Burns Centers.
We have included all sponsoring Bodies of our Order in some small way this year in our projects.
Several scholarships are available for Rainbow members. The Adda Dinsmore Educational Scholarship is given annually to girls demonstrating excellence and commitment in Rainbow. The Ralph O'Rear Campership is given to help with the cost of Rainbow Camp in the summer. Tennessee Rainbow has the Adda Dinsmore Educational Memorial Loan Fund, which is available for borrowing interest-free funds for tuition to active Rainbow Girls and Majority Members. Contributions from Assemblies and individuals are given to support these funds.
In Tennessee, we are fortunate to have a Rainbow Camp. MontMilner Rainbow Camp, a 112-acre camp is located on Monteagle Mountain near Chattanooga. It provides an opportunity to experience the beauty of nature, one of the seven lessons of Rainbow. A lake, a dorm and a large dining area provide a great place to visit, camp, eat, and enjoy sports activities. A caretaker provides care and maintenance to the grounds year-round. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the camp is open to Rainbow Girls, their families and all affiliated Masonic bodies.
The Supreme Inspector within the state has information regarding establishment of Assemblies, membership, fraternal affiliation, and activities. For more information about the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls in Tennessee, please call:
